Carlos Barros – Marketing Director at Epos Now | Image: Epos Now

Mr. Barros, tell us about Epos Now.

Epos Now is a cloud-based technology company that provides point-of-sale (EPOS) solutions to businesses across the globe. Our mission is to provide exceptional customer experiences by harnessing the power of cloud technology.

Since our inception in 2011, we have helped over 53,000 businesses, across five continents take their business to the next level. Our solutions are easy to set up and help businesses of all sizes increase efficiency, maximise profits and stay future-proof.

We are constantly innovating and expanding our product offering to meet the needs of an ever-changing marketplace. Our team of experts are dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and support.

What was your mission at the start of your company?

Before becoming Chief Executive Officer of Epos Now, Jacyn Heavens owned and managed a bar, and noticed a lot of faults with the point-of-sale systems that were available at the time. He often questioned why existing EPOS solutions were so outdated and challenging to use, so he created his own cloud-based EPOS systems with the customer in mind.

Since then, we’ve grown into a team of over 400 experts who are constantly working to innovate and expand our product offering to meet the needs of an ever-changing marketplace.

What makes you stand out from your competitors?

One thing that really sets us apart from our competitors is the fact that we work with a lot of independent businesses. We understand that SMBs need to grow and scale their business in order to be successful. Especially in the current climate, with the global pandemic resulting in one in three SMBs being forced to close their doors permanently.

Epos Now pride themselves on being the best solution for SMBs and independent businesses. Our systems and solutions are designed to help them compete with the global giants in their industry. We do this by offering features such as inventory management, customer loyalty programs and staff scheduling – all of which can be accessed from one centralised platform. This benefits SMBs in two ways. Firstly, it helps them save time and money, and secondly, it gives them the insights they need to make informed decisions about their business. By providing these features, we’re able to help businesses big and small stay competitive in today’s digital age.

What are the benefits of cloud-based EPOS systems for businesses?

Since switching to our cloud-based EPOS systems, our customers have seen some amazing benefits. Here are some of the most common ones: Increased efficiency – businesses can take payments and manage their stock more efficiently with our cloud-based systems.

Maximised profits – our systems are designed to help businesses make the most of their sales and improve cash flow.

Future-proof – with regular updates and new features, our cloud-based systems are always up-to-date and will never become outdated.

What are some of your favourite features the EPOS system offers?

I definitely think the integrations that we offer on the Epos Now app store are one of our favourite features. This is because it allows businesses to tailor their system to their specific needs and streamline their operations. For example, a business could integrate a delivery app to allow customers to order food for delivery directly from their EPOS system. This type of integration would not be possible with an off-the-shelf EPOS system. With that same system, a small boutique could integrate a loyalty program to increase customer retention rates.

Another favourite feature is the system’s built-in reporting. This allows businesses to track their sales, stock levels, and staff performance in real-time. This information is essential for making informed decisions, and helps businesses to identify any areas that need improvement.

What do you have in the works for the next few months?

We have some really exciting things in the works for the next few months! As I mentioned earlier, we’re a company that is extremely focused on innovation and staying current with new developments in technology. So, we’re always working on new features and integrations that will make our customers’ lives easier. We recently launched our Epos Now Delivery app that seamlessly connects businesses with the best delivery platforms in the industry, allowing restaurants and cafes to offer online food orders from major third-party companies such as Uber Eats, GrubHub, and DoorDash directly from their existing Epos Now restaurant management system.

In the next few months, we’re anticipating an IPO (Initial Public Offering). This is a really big moment for our company, and something that we’ve been working towards for a long time. We’re also expanding our partnerships and forging new integrations with some brilliant companies. Our goal is to provide our customers with the best possible solutions, and that’s what we’re constantly working towards. How about longer-term.

Where do you see the business going in the next 5 years?

We see the business continuing to grow and expand globally. We’re constantly working on new ways to make our technology more accessible to businesses of all sizes, in all industries.

In the next five years, we want to solidify our position as the leading provider of cloud-based EPOS systems. We also want to continue our focus on sustainability. Our recent carbon offsetting integration was hugely successful, and we want to roll it out to more businesses.
