iZettle is a specialist POS vendor which offers two types of card reader and a range of POS accessories to create full systems. Their products are geared towards smartphone and tablet usage with Android and Apple compatibility across the board. Their card readers accept payment from all major debit cards, as well as Android, Apple, and Samsung payment apps. Payments can be made by chip and PIN or contactless (NFC) for all their products.

- Connections to card readers can be made via Bluetooth or via a wired connection with the card reader mounted on a dock.

iZettle offers two Bluetooth-enabled card readers; the iZettle or the iZettle Reader 2. The latter was released at the end of 2018 and the former is likely to be phased out. iZettle offers compatibility and standalone or packaged purchases with the Star range of accessories, including wired and Bluetooth receipt printers, the mPOP printer/cash drawer and also offers a barcode scanner for iOS interface only.
iZettle accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Maestro, V pay, Visa Electron, JCB, Diners Club, China Union Pay, Discover and Apple Pay, Google Pay, and NFC phone payment.
iZettle adheres to PCI PTS 4.1 and the hardware and software are designed to be tamperproof. If any tampering is detected, the card reader self-destructs. Credit card information is fully encrypted.
There are a range of videos and tutorials on the site for support. There is an online form for out of hours support queries. Additionally, there is a phone line with extended hours provided for subscribers to the Pro service (between 8am-8pm or 9am-6pm at weekends).
Costs and fees
iZettle do not charge contract fees unless you want to go with their Go Plus premium service at £29 per month. All hardware purchases are upfront, with the mobile store kit costing £259. The full kit comes in at £489 and the iOS compatible barcode scanner is £229.
